Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups offer breakout monthly sessions on specific topics for SGS members.
 

Canadian Interest Group
Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month at 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the SGS library. Email education@seattlegenealogicalsociety.org for more information.

German Interest Group
Meetings are usually held on the third Saturday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m., following the Irish Interest Group meetings at the SGS library. Email education@seattlegenealogicalsociety.org for more information.

Irish Interest Group
Meetings are usually held on the third Saturday of each month from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the SGS library. Email education@seattlegenealogicalsociety.org for more information.

Writing Groups
SGS is forming new groups for interested writers. In addition, there are periodic Umbrella Writers' Group meetings for all interested genealogy writers. For more information on our Writers' Groups, email education@seattlegenealogicalsociety.org.

Mac Computer Interest Group
Jointly sponsored by SGS and Fiske, this group meets quarterly from October through June on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Fiske Genealogical Library in Madison Park. Meetings are open to the public and will address topics and resources helpful for those using MacIntosh (Apple) computers and the Reunion program in their genealogy research. $3.00 library use fee applies. DNA Interest Group
The DNA group was started in March 2010 due to the passion of SGS member, Jim Gunderson, our first co-chair. Our mission: To enable our members to determine who to DNA test, what DNA test is best for which family member, and how the DNA Test results can assist your family research. Each meeting will include a presentation about “What’s New” and group Volunteers will give a short presentations about their DNA Test Results. Beginning DNA Presentations and Hands on Workshops will also be scheduled topics at some of our meetings. The group meets quarterly at the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church. Scandinavian Interest Group 
Meets the second Sunday of most months throughout the year. Be sure to check the calendar for dates and times.
